Sywell Fly / Drive-in

  • 11:00 AM
  • Sywell Aerodrome

This event has now been finalised for Sunday the 26th April, in just three weeks time. Please note the date change (it was originally planned for Saturday, now not possible due to a closed event at the aerodrome that day).

To increase the day’s attraction, we have arranged to have a group tour of the newly re-opened Sywell Aviation Museum (SAM), celebrating this year its 25th anniversary.

Apart from a varied and brilliantly organised (considering space limitation) exhibits within several interlinked Nissen hats, SAM is also proudly displays aircraft and cockpits outside. Amongst those, there is Handley Page Jetstream ‘Jenny’ G-RAVL (with a tenuous connection to Beagle Aircraft in that John Larroucau had engineering input in its design) and Hawker Hunter ‘Heidi’ WN904. The museum does not charge entrance fees, but it relies entirely on voluntary donations collected at the exit door, so time to raid our piggy banks!

Please note that thanks to the tour, the event will go ahead even if the weather decides to prohibit aviation! Precise timings of the tour will be announced closer to the day, to fit any changes in weather conditions.
