The long awaited face to face AGM has happened. There was a good turnout both in person (Sywell’s Cockpit Room) and on ZOOM. With such a genuinely friendly and relaxed atmosphere, the sense of camaraderie was palpable. Most of us haven’t seen each other for over two years, so there was a lot of catching up throughout the day.
With the AGM formalities concluded, we were treated to two presentations. The first one, (a pre-recorded and very informative video) from Matthew Gibson of ThisCompany described the conception, design and implementation of our new website and the Forum. The video will be uploaded YouTube channel very soon, for future reference!
We all knew that Neil Tucker’s, who presented our second talk, was going to be inspirational, funny and informational in equal measures. What we didn’t anticipate was how emotionally charged it was going to be. Not a dry eye in the house on more than one occasion! Conversely, as the Club, we achieved a great success in rendering Neil momentarily speechless, when Michael presented him with the John Blake award, awarded for “…notable event bringing credit to the Club, the aeroplanes we fly or services to aviation”. Neil’s tenacity in bringing “Eileen’s Dog” back to England, adapting it to disabled flying, and – most admirable – making it available to others through Aerobility, makes him a perfect recipient of the award. Neil’s entire talk has been captured by me on video (very amateurishly, I might add), and will also be uploaded into our YouTube channel…
